Head of the Republic of Mordovia is the highest official of the Republic of Mordovia. He heads the higher executive state power body of the Republic of Mordovia. Head of the Republic of Mordovia is guarantee of the Constitution, represents Mordovia in internal and international relations, provides arrangements for coordinated activities of state power bodies functioning, their interrelations with federal state power bodies. Head of the Republic of Mordovia within his power issues decrees and regulations which cannot contravene the Constitution of the Russian Federation, federal laws, the Constitution of the Republic of Mordovia and laws of the Republic of Mordovia. Decrees and regulations of Head of the Republic of Mordovia are subject to compulsory execution in the whole territory of the Republic of Mordovia.

The Government of the Republic of Mordovia is a constantly operating highest executive power body of the Republic of Mordovia. The Government of the Republic of Mordovia provides execution of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, federal laws, other regulatory legal acts, the Constitution of the Republic of Mordovia, laws of the Republic of Mordovia, other regulatory legal acts of the Republic of Mordovia. The Government consists of Chairman of the Government, Deputy Chairmen, ministers, heads of executive power bodies of the Republic of Mordovia. Chairman of the Government and Deputy Chairmen of the Government of the Republic of Mordovia are appointed by Head of the Republic of Mordovia on agreement with the State Assembly of the Republic of Mordovia.
